ICU Nurses from San Antonio's Christus Santa Rosa Hospital have gone public, yet protected their identities, in a dispute with hospital management over working conditions at the intensive care unit.
The ICU nurse appearing in our tv news story claims the situation has become so bad with forced overtime, missed breaks and meals, low levels of staffing and harassment, that at least 20 intensive care unit nurses have quit.

Tell your story! We want to interview you, either in person (if you are local to Ventura County), or, over the telephone. What about? You! Your background, why you decided to go into nursing, your specialty if you have one, what you think about the state of nursing today and changes you'd like to see. We will publish the interviews (mostly your answers and thoughts) in an iTunes compatible ongoing series of podcasts.
Like any interview subject (think National Public Radio), there is no payment involved, but you get a chance to share the good and bad with others and to get your voice heard. We are looking nurses and even student nurses from all parts of the USA and Canada (initially), with any license, any gender and any specialty.

A new report from a team at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center claims a 7% drop in the annual rate of breast cancer in women who are post-menopausal and not on, or who have stopped, Hormone Replacement Therapy or HRT.
The data only compares the calendar years 2002-2003 but the drop applies to women nationwide. The researchers revealed their dramatic findings at the 29th annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.

As the teaching of medicine becomes an ever increasingly multimedia process, the need for medical stock footage to illustrate the finer points of human anatomy grows apace. Simple two-dimensional illustrations pale in comparison to the lifelike realism offered by state-of-the-art computer animation.
Known in the video production industry by the acronym CGI for Computer Generated Imagery, this technology is responsible for the breathtaking scenes popularized by the feature films Shrek, Toy Story, and Finding Nemo.
Many producers, educational institutions, teaching hospitals and nursing schools are finding themselves in need of stock footage to incorporate in PowerPoint presentations and full-fledged videos intended for distribution online, via DVD and in the classroom.
Royalty free stock footage is an extremely cost-effective way to obtain this footage from existing stock video libraries. These companies offer previously produced video on liberal usage terms for much less cost to the buyer than producing the needed sequences from scratch.
The upside is very high quality footage sourced at very reasonable cost and under simple and uncomplicated license. The downside is that this footage will not be exclusive to the end user and it may not be a perfect match.
A few last points to keep in mind when shopping for stock footage. When you purchase most stock video you can use it time after time without paying new fees. Most stock video is available on CD, DVD or via download. And finally, you can either order the entrée or a la carte.
