Video: H1N1 Update
The H1N1 virus seems to have taken a hiatis in North Dakota. Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Cheryl Underhill says it's been six weeks since the last case of H1N1 was reported in the state. Although, other states across the country have seen increased reports of cases in February. Underhill says North Dakota typically lags behind the national trends about 4 to 6 weeks. So far, 3230 cases of influenza have been documented across the North Dakota, most of those have been the H1N1 virus. Underhill says the fall shipment of the seasonal flu vaccine will include the h1n1 strain. (Cheryl Underhill/Emergency Preparedness Coordinator) "There has been no change in the makeup of the virus as it now continues to circulate in the southern hemisphere. It is moving back around and the good new is, it has remained stable and it has not shifted or drifted so hopefully it will remain stable into the fall season and the h1n1 vaccination that has been developed will be applicable to that particular virus." To date, Bismarck Burleigh Public Health has administered 68-hundred vaccines at clinics, points of dispensing, and through appointments.
