I had read a review from elsewhere, however, and my expectations were not quite met but only because I expected it for a little bit older child. Graphics are good. The message is important. It tells a story the kids can relate to about being bullied and it introduces them to Then (Past), When (Future) and Now. The book was powerful for me! I'm giving this to each of my grandkids and family friends. I think kids from 4 on up will like the story - I did! I gave it to my 11-year old niece who is an excellent reader (she's read Harry Potter) and she loved the book. This book is "The Power of Now" for Kids and anyone else who wants to get present to the power of now right now! Bought for my Great Nephew who turned 8 y/o. Then, something terrible happens at school, a bully threatens Milton. The boy becomes quite unhappy. Suddenly, all he can think about is that bully. Why did the bully choose Milton to pick on? What was going to happen the next time he met that bully? A dream gives Milton the answer he really needs. It shows him that trying to change the past or predict the future is an exercise in futility. We only have to live in the here and now. It is in the moment that we will find true happiness. Milton's Secret is a very well presented story with an important message. It's a message that we all need to be reminded about: living in the now. It's also a good way to reinforce the skills that kids need in their daily life. Young Milton is an ordinary boy who loves his pet cat, but he is plagued with worry over a school bully and other problems. 'If he ever tries to hurt you again, promise me you'll tell your mom or dad at once, and you should also tell your teacher.' 'Okay, I promise.' 'When did this happen?' 'Yesterday.' 'I see, yesterday. That was When it happened. But it's not happening now, is it?' 'Of course it's not happening now. But I'm worried he'll try to do it again.' 'If he does, it will be Then, won't it? You're worrying about Then and thinking about When. Aren't you forgetting something? Then and When are in your head. They are not here Now, are they?'"
